Surrey Protest In 2009 a very active new group from the Fraser Valley community of Surrey joined Ban the Cannons. This group represents home owners living in many Surrey communities, in particular families living along the north side of Highway #10 just west of Cloverdale.

On July 22nd they held a protest ralley on the corner of Highway #10 and 168th street to raise awareness of the extreme noise pollution produced by blueberry farms on the south side of the highway.
Please visit our Cloverdale Protest web page for more details.

The group's activities include:

  • a protest was held at Surrey Municipal Hall to urge the municipality to enforce it's noise bylaws. The results can be seen on our Surrey City Hall Protest web page.

  • filing a formal complaint to the BCFIRB about excessive blueberry cannon noise in their community

  • filing a formal complaint about the extreme noise generated by frost fans used on blueberry farms

  • writing a steady stream of letters to local newspapers and politicians raising awareness of this noise issue

If you wish to find out more about the group and possibly join them in their fight against the extreme noise pollution produced by blueberry farms, please send us an e-mail at: bancannons@hotmail.com . We will put you in touch with the group in Surrey.
