To: Mr. Pat Bell,
Minister of Agriculture and Lands &
Abbotsford/Mission MLA Mike De Jong
I live in North Bradner, a rural corner of Abbotsford, and every year for
the past decade the
number of blueberry farms in our area has continued to grow. Along with
this growth has
come the increased use of propane cannons and the incessant noise.
Believe me when I say that rural residents are beyond frustrated by the
noise. Last summer
I attended a protest rally in the community of Bradner and over 50 local
residents attended.
Two new blueberry farms have started up adjacent to the town center and
they have started using
propane cannons.
The Ban the Cannons group documented the event on their
web site, including
an altercation with the owner of one of the fields.

I anticipate if something is not done soon, altercations will be happening
more and more
because of the noise and the irresponsible use of propane cannons by the
blueberry industry.
To Mr. De Jong, I encourage you to stand up for your constituents and to
support MLA Randy
Hawes who wishes to see these devices banned.
And Mr. Bell, please give propane cannons serious thought. They are
ruining the quality of
life of residents in the Fraser Valley, both rural residents and those at
the ALR edge. It is time
that these devices are banned in the Fraser Valley.
Sincerely,
D. G.
Bradner
