To: The Editor,
I called the local authority to let them know I need to protect my vehicle at all costs when parked at home, as I need it for my business.

I would like to have the horn honk every three minutes in order to scare away would-be thieves.

Sir, came the reply, don’t be ridiculous, if we were to allow this we would be inundated with complaints and, being an election year, the Mayor would never be re-elected for sure.

So, I enquire further, why do you allow farmers to use scare cannons in the same manner? ?

Silence was the reply.
